St Mary’s Street

This street looks the same as it did a hundred years ago. The shops here are mainly traditional ones. The owners today no longer live above the shop. The houses at the east end are still residential and the Arts Centre provides entertainment. The Cross Keys is now a shop and Brooks Court behind the street was demolished after Addison’s Housing Act gave councils money to provide new housing.
