8th December 2015 Thomas Bell Pick Car 1910 Thomas was born in Stamford in 1898, he had left school but was unemployed in 1911. His father John William and mother Sophia were both born in Stamford and father worked as a painter’s labourer at Pick’s Motor Manufacturing Works. The family lived at 4 Boyden Court, a group of two tenements with an archway at number 17 which opened on to High Street, St Martin’s. This was the street where the Pick Motor Company had a works for building early motor vehicles until 1925. No service record has been found for Thomas and he is thought to have died in Boston, Lincolnshire in March 1983 at the age of 85.
