Harry Bunn – 1 Hope’s Terrace

Harry Bunn was born in Lincoln in 1896. His mother died in 1901 leaving seven children aged between 1 and 13 years – Harry was about 5 years old. Although he was listed in Stamford in 1911 as a green grocer’s errand boy, he may only have been visiting.

Together with his father Arthur, an iron moulder, and his younger sister Nellie, he was staying at 1 Hope’s Terrace, a boarding house.

The eldest boy in the family joined the Royal Regiment of Artillery in 1903 when he was 15 years old and had a successful career, serving for 17 years including wartime service in France. In his records his father’s address was given in Lincoln and nothing has been found that suggests any of the family lived in Stamford.
