6th December 2015 Archie Cunnington was born 1895 and was possibly related to the Cunnington family who were prosperous tenant farmers on the Burghley estate. He was an apprentice plumber in 1911, one of two lodgers living with the Short family, Eliza and Edward (a labourer in the gasworks) and their three children at 5 Belle Vue Terrace, Barnack Road. On the outbreak of war he enlisted in the army as a Gunner in theĀ Northamptonshire Battery, Royal Field Artillery – a unit of Britain’s Territorial Force which saw service in the Sinai and Palestine Campaign during World War I. Nothing further is known of Archie.
