Sydney Cyril Dawson

Sydney was the son of Joseph and Mary Dawson. He was born in 1898 in Thurlby where the family were living in Crown Lane in 1901. Joseph and Mary had 9 children but 3 died. In 1911 Joseph was a widower, living with Frances Florence aged 27, George aged 20 and Lucy aged 10 in 4 White Swan Yard. George was a wood sawyer by trade. The family had moved away by 1916. He died in Boston in 1925. Florence married George Brittain in 1911 and they had five children. Both parents died in February 1929.

White Swan Yard with 6 dwellings was behind the White Swan Inn in Scotgate, now know as the Punchbowl.
