John Robert Nichols

John Robert was the son of Robert and Emma Louise Nichols . Robert was an engineers clerk and in 1911 the family were living at 7 Emlyn Street. In 1901 they were living at Seaton Terrace, Adelaide Street and his father Robert was a clerk at the foundry.

John attended Eversley School from 1901 to 1910, after leaving school he took an apprenticeship at Blackstone & Co, Rutland Engineering Works. In October1916 he joined the Navy describing himself as a fitter. He was firstly stationed at HMS Vivid an accounting base at Devonport. He then served on HMS Constance and was able to increase his engineering knowledge. He was of very good character and satisfactory ability. He was demobbed in February 1919 and returned to Blackstones.

He married Emmie Boughton in June 1924 and died in Colchester Essex in November 1995.

In 1911 Emmie aged 10 lived at 7 Greba Villas,  Barnack Road and was the sister of Edgar Boughton a fellow Stamford Boy. She died in Colchester in 1979
