Maiden Lane

Many of the houses in Maiden Lane have seventeenth century origins and Digby House, at numbers 9 and 10, incorporates some very old features.

In 1911 the street appears to have had a very mixed population with laundresses and ladies of private means next door to each other and a mixture of retailers and craftsmen.

There was also a small court off the street called Pleasant Place but it may not have been so pleasant in reality!
