8th December 2015 Henry Izod Rogers – St Michael’s Rectory, Ryhall Road Henry was born on 7th September 1898 at Cottered Rectory, Hertfordshire. He was the eldest of the three sons of the Reverend Henry Izod Rogers and his wife Mabel. In 1905 the Reverend Rogers was appointed Rector of St Michael’s by the Marquess of Exeter and the family moved into St Michael’s Rectory on Ryhall Road. At the time of the 1911 census Henry was 12 years old. He and his brothers, John 9 years and Tom 7 years, were all at school in Stamford. The family had three live-in servants: a cook, a housemaid and a nurse. Henry joined the 5th East Lancs Regiment in 1917 and served abroad becoming a 2nd Lieutenant. He received the British and Victory Medals. After the war Henry became a solicitor. In 1926 he married Edith Frances Fielding whose father was an Anglican clergyman in New South Wales, Australia. Before their marriage she had worked in advertising in London and her letters to her mother are in the New South Wales Archives. They lived in Paddington then on Blenheim Road, London NW8. She died in 1967 and he died in 1972.
