8th December 2015 Albert Wright Albert Wright was born in Norwich in April 1899. In 1911 he was living with his father Albert, stepmother Elizabeth, sister Alice aged 14 and stepbrother Frederick aged 6 at 25 Recreation Road. His father worked as a Moulder for an agricultural engineering company. In 1915 when he was seventeen, he enlisted with the 3rd Lincolnshires, (regimental number 61791). He served in France with the 294 Prisoner of War Company who looked after the German prisoners of war in France after the armistice. He was demobbed in October 1919. Note – The 3rd Battalion was called the Special Battalion. It seems to have been used for training purposes and confined to duties in England and Ireland. Because of this, very little is known about its activities as a battalion did not keep a diary until it went overseas.
