8th December 2015 Jack Wyer was not really a Stamford boy although he had Stamford connections. His father was a butcher in Nottingham and 16 year old Jack’s occupation was also butcher in 1911. Jack and his sister Elsie, may just have been visiting their aunt and uncle (Mary & Alfred Illingworth) at the time of the census or they may have been resident with them for a longer period. The Illingworths lived at 50 Broad St where Alfred was working as a boot repairer on hiView posts own account.
