In 1911 Arthur and his family were living in Stamford at 11 Wharf Road. Arthur was born in Ramsey Huntingdonshire in1896. His father, Henry John Franklin, was widowed. He was born in London in 1862. He was an engineer pattern maker. His wife, Mary Eliza (nee Knight) had died in 1910. She was born in Great Raveley, Huntingdonshire in 1867. Two of their five surviving children were at home – Arthur aged 15 and Flossie (Florence) Edith who was 19 . Arthur was employed as a grocer’s assistant and his sister was the housekeeper at home. They shared their home with 77 year old William Parton , their mother’s uncle. He was a retired rural postman.

In 1901, five year old Arthur had been living with his great uncle and aunt, William and Mary A. Parton in Ramsey, while his parents were living in Woodston, Peterborough with Albert(2) and Florence (9). Father was a pattern engineer and his mother was a dressmaker.

When his father, Henry John Franklin, died in 1926, Arthur was living at 5 Conduit Road in Stamford. His executors were his daughter Florence Wade (wife of Harold William Wade) and Frank Beardsall.
