Frederick, the son of Frederick Leeds and Constance Gooch, was born in Stamford in April 1898. He was christened in the Wesleyan chapel on May 5th 1898. He had a brother Herbert born in 1890 and a sister Constance born in 1882.

Frederick William was not listed in Stamford on either the 1901 or the 1911 census. In 1911 he was away at school in Framlingham, Suffolk.
In 1916 he joined the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, Cheshire Regiment and also served with the 1/4 Essex Regiment in Egypt. (See details in picture given by his father to Stamford Town Hall in 1919)
He joined his father in the Veterinary Practice at 19 High Street St Martins and was listed as a partner in 1939.
He married Gwendoline Daniels in 1930. Gwendoline died in Stamford Nursing Home on December 27th 1935. They were living at 4 Casterton Road at the time of her death. Frederick then married Betty White in March 1938 – Betty was born in 1912and their son Brian was born in March 1941.
After his father’s death in 1941, Frederick William took over the practice. His elder brother Herbert became a marine engineer.
Frederick sold the practice to Tom Broome and retired to Tinwell, Rutland – he died in 1990. His widow Betty died on February 9th 2009.
