8th December 2015 William Edward Morris was born in 1896. He lived with his parents Robert and Fanny and his brother Frederick at 8 Bentley Street. His father was an engine fitter working for an agricultural engineering company and William was an apprentice engine fitter, probably at the same company. He enlisted on September 17th 1915 with the Royal Flying Corps and on May 1st 1916 he was promoted to Corporal. On April 1st 1918 he joined the newly formed Royal Air Force which replaced the Flying Corps and he became a flight mechanic in the new Air Force. He served in France from October 7th 1916 until August 21st 1919. where he married a French woman Juliette Claire (surname unknown) on November 16th 1918 at Pont de Lache. He was demobbed on December 6th 1919.
