Barn Hill The sheep market was held at the top of this street until 1781 when the residents objected and it was moved to the present area called Sheepmarket. Despite this it was always a prosperous residential area from medieval times. Barn Hill Barn Hill House is probably the grandest house in Stamford. Stukeley the famous 18th century antiquarian had lived at No 9, occupied in 1911 by Charles Atter the Town Clerk.
