Percy was born in Stamford in 1897. In 1911 he was 13 and was living with his parents Thomas and Katherine Plowright (nee Leeton) at 15 St Paul’s Street, Stamford. His father was a printer. Percy was the youngest of four surviving children. Ethel Kate (23) and Violet Eunice (21) were dressmakers. Florence Mabel(19) was a teacher to a private family. Percy was at school. In 1901 the family were living at 3 Adelaide Street. All the family were born in Stamford except their mother who was born in Wittering , Northamptonshire.

No information of military service for Percy has been found.

In 1938 Percy married Phyllis Evelyn Bird in Oundle, Northants. She was born in Easton on the Hill in 1908, the daughter of Robert William Bird , a furniture maker. In 1911 her family was living in Church Street, Easton on the Hill .

No evidence of children has been located.

Percy died in Horncastle in December 1982,  Phyllis died a year later in December 1983, in Sleaford.
