Maurice Barrand was born in Tyrell Street Leicester in April 1900. His father Edward, a carpenter, was born in Corby and his mother Hannah (Annie) was born in Spalding.

He had a younger brother Harold who was born in 1903. In 1911 the family were living at 81 Cemetery Road. (Radcliffe Road) .

No military record . He died in Stamford in June 1921.
