8th December 2015 Harold Elson – 64 High Street Harold was the youngest of 4 children of Shadrack Elson and Edith Eleanor nee Bullamore. His father was a confectioner in Street George’s Street but died in 1902 when Harold was only about 7 years old. In 1911, his mother was carrying on business in her own right as a baker and confectioner at 64 High Street. Harold was a Gunner in the 4th Lincolnshire Regiment but no other details have come to light. His mother continued in business throughout the war dying in 1931 at the age of 75 years. F W Neave took over the premises until it became part of Parrish’s after World War II.
