8th December 2015 Harold was the son of George and Eliza Goodley. In 1911 he had three sisters, Alice 25, Edith 18, Dorothy 6 and two brothers Albert 23 and Walter 25. In 1901 they were living at 1 Brownlow Terrace and by 1911 they had moved to 25 St Mary’s Street, a large house with 9 rooms. George was an estate agent and auctioneer, Harold was still at school. He enlisted with the Lincolnshire Regiment -2nd Battalion in 1914 . He was killed on October 27th in Flanders, one of the many Somme casualties. His grave is in the Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte. One of his older brothers, Albert also served in the war, firstly with the 4th Lincolnshire Regiment and later with the Military Police Corps in France and Egypt. In October 1915 he was in hospital in France suffering from debility. The other brother, Walter ran the Estate Agent’s business at 13 Maiden Lane in 1930.
