8th December 2015 Cecil Thomas Powley Cecil Thomas was born in Spilsby, Lincolnshire in 1898. His father Thomas was a Railway Porter and the family had moved quite a few times before they came to Stamford in 1911. He had three sisters Daisy, Alice and Florence. By 1911 father had died, leaving his mother Sarah a widow. She was living at 26 Bath Row with Daisy now 18, Cecil 12, Florence 10 and 7 lodgers in a 7 roomed house. Cecil enlisted with the 4th Lincolnshire Regiment and served subsequently with the Royal Scots and the Army Service Corps receiving the British and Victory medals. After the war he lived in Prestatyn, North Wales and died in Rhuddlan in 1981.
