8th December 2015 William Rouse William Rouse, born in 1895 was the son of Joseph and Emily Rouse who lived at 6 Bath Row. He had four brothers Isaac 14, Samuel 10, George 7, and Bertie 2, his father was a labourer at the brickworks and William and Isaac were drapers’ errand boys. In 1914 William who was then working as an ostler enlisted with the Royal Horse Artillery as a Driver. He served in France from 1915 until 1917 and then served in Mesopotamia from 1917 until 1919. He stayed in the army until 1926 serving in India. He married Lilian Elsie May Ponder on December 10th 1921 in Woolwich. His daughter Dorothy May Ponder was born on April 28th 1923. He was awarded all three service medals. Isaac Rouse Isaac was born in October 1897. He enlisted with the 4th Lincolnshire Regiment in 1914 and served in France. He was discharged in 1917 as a result of sickness and awarded the Silver Badge. He died in 1988.
