8th December 2015 Henry was born in 1897 in Hackney, London. He was the son of Walter Sidney and Emily Georgiana (nee Nelmes) Washbourne. His mother divorced Walter Sidney Washbourne in 1900 and married Albert Edward John Cade. In 1901 Henry was living at the home of his maternal grandfather in Hackney, Middlesex. By 1911 he was living with his mother in Stamford with her second husband Albert Cade. They were living at 8 Blackfriars Street. Henry’s father was a compositor. His stepfather stated his occupation as ‘of independent means and turf accountant’. Military records for Henry have not been located. At some point before 1925, when he married Gladys E Clark in Grantham, Henry had taken his stepfather’s surname.Their 2 daughters were born in Hastings in 1932 and 1934. His wife’s death was registered in 1941 in Battle Sussex, Henry died in 1978 in Hastings and Rother, Sussex. His mother and stepfather also died in Sussex.
