8th December 2015 Thomas Windsor – 51 East Street Godfrey Parkinson Windsor, a Builder’s Labourer, married Ellen Sismore in 1897 and later that year their first child, Thomas William was born.. Thomas William wasn’t baptised until March 1900 by which time two more children had been born, Godfrey and Ellen. The family lived in 2 rooms at 3 Exeter Court, Broad St in 1901. With less than 2yrs between them Thomas and Godfrey probably spent much time together so it must have been difficult for Thomas when Godfrey died aged 6yrs. His only other brother, Willie, was not born until 1909 and there were 3 more sisters – Lizzie, born 1908/9; Edith born 1905/6 and Annie born 1912. In 1911 there were 7 in the family living in 3 rooms at 51 East St. Thomas was 14yrs old and a labourer on a farm. In 1917 he joined the 8th North Staffordshire Regiment as a Private and was later transferred to the South Staffordshire Regiment. No further details have been found except that he was awarded the British and Victory medals. Two of Thomas William’s sisters married in the Stamford area in the early 1920s and in 1929 he married Florence Scotney. At some stage they seem to have moved to Bourne where Thomas William died in 1963, aged 67. Florence may have returned to Stamford because she died there in 1929.
