27th February 2016 Charles Taylor Born in Stamford in the spring of 1895, lived at 3 Lumbys Terrace, next-door to his namesake, who was probably related but no evidence found. His mother Emma and father Charles Edward, a corporation labourer, were both born in Stamford, as were their seven children although one died at birth. Charles was their second child and in 1911 he was working as a builder’s labourer. He is listed as a driver in the Army Service Corps in 1914 but no service record has been found. He returned to Stamford after the war and married Eliza A. Howitt in 1924. He died in Peterborough in December 1974 at the age of 79.
