Leonard Francis Crowson

Leonard Francis Crowson, born in November 1898 was the son of Charles Frederick and Elizabeth Crowson. In 1901 the family were living at 5 St Peter’s Terrace and his father was a miller’s waggoner.

In 1911 they stilled lived at 5 St Peter’s Terrace and Leonard was still at school. His father, born in Tinwell was now a coal porter.

He enlisted in 1917 and joined the Northumberland Fusiliers. He became a Lance Corporal.He was wounded in his arms and legs in 1918 and was a prisoner of war .

In June 1923 he married Jennie Beechener, he died in Boston in January 1960.
